Why you should read old books.

3 Comments / July 29, 2013

I love to read. Even with my passionate desire to grow I sometimes find reading a challenge. What is even more difficult than reading books? Reading old books. I have been more intentional about reading books and reading lots of them in the past two years. One of the things I have been most intentional

Three relationships every Leader needs: A Savior A Friend A Coach One of the things that never ceases to amaze me is how people like Michael Phelps the best in the world at what he does needs a coach. Another thing that amazes me is how Tiger Woods needs a golf coach but doesn’t see

Three relationships every Leader needs: A Savior A Friend A Coach I don’t know how it started or where this leadership concept came from but it is one of the most deadly ones because it appeals to our sense of doing what’s best for the company or church. The idea that as a leader you

Book Review: The Fourth Fisherman.

While the name The Fourth Fisherman isn’t the most compelling but the story in its pages absolutely is. The way that the author of the book lays out the story of a man who has worldly wealth comes to find that he was a poor lost soul surrounded by professional sharks. As Joe the authors

Three relationships every Leader needs: A Savior A Friend A Coach   Two of the biggest mistakes I made as a leader was becoming a professional leader and become a professional Christian. YouTube Friday: Insaine Beatboxing

There are a few things that when they go together they each make the other better. Chocolate and peanut butter for example. For me Ted talks and Beatboxing would be another. If I were not a pastor I may think of starting a carer in beatboxing. Happy Friday

No matter what size your church is you have to be able to accept credit cards. Our days as a cash based society are numbered if not over. Here are two tools we use at our church to allow us to accept credit card payments.

    Hey Sam,

Our church is considering getting PushPay, but I’m confused by your statement, “This will not make up the bulk of our giving it does allow for people who prefer to operate cashless to give spontaneously.” What do you mean by this?

In our context we don’t have a ton of tech savvy people so for us pushpay doesn’t make up the bulk of our giving. Many younger people use it and we use it as a way for people who give online to have a tech way to give spontaneously to a special offering. Does that make sense?
