Key Point –What is the church and what is my place in the church
Memory Verse – Ephesians. 4:16 “Under His direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly…” (NLT)
Children’s Sermon – Bible Story – Tell the story of the first church – Acts 2 –
The Church Helps me Grow
The Church Helps me Know
Know God more
Object Lesson – Have a plant show the kids how healthy the plant is explained to the kids the components that make a healthy plant – it has good soil, water, sun, fertilizer ect.. If we are missing any of these components the plant will die. When we are healthy we have attend church we worship, we read our bibles and we love others. Coming to church helps us to be a healthy Christian.
Skit – Lonely Boy, Have a skit where there is a boy who is very sad and very lonely. A group of kids come up to the boy and invite him to kids church he doesn’t want to go because no one cares about him. They say ok and leave. He continues to talk about how he feels so alone, the kids come back and ask if he wants to go to get some ice cream he says that he doesn’t want to because he doesn’t know anyone. He leaves sad because no one wants to be his friend.
Skit – Mr. Know it all – He comes out and knows everything about everything. You ask him how many feet are in a yard he knows, you ask how far the earth is from the sun he know, you ask how much the human head weighs he knows. The MC asks how he knows so much and he says that he reads books and goes to school. The MC then asks what was the name of God’s Son? Name two disciples. What are the two things the church helps us do? How many books of the Bible are there? Mr. Know it all is flustered he doesn’t know any of that and tells the MC that he doesn’t know that stuff he has never even heard about it. MC explains that just like we learn about planets and measurements at school and from school books we learn more about Jesus at church and by reading the Bible. The more we read the more we go the more we know.
Object Lesson – We all come together in one place to meet with God. We come to church to worship God. Have two people tied together with rope or wearing a large shirt show how they don’t accomplish anything when they are going in different directions. But when they are united like the early church was united they accomplish much.
Object Lesson – Every part does something else we need each other – Think of trying to walk with no feet – Think of picking something up without any thumbs. We all need each other we all make up the church. Some people are seen a lot some are not seen as much.
Corinthians – The Book of Giving
Key Point – Why do we give and who do we give to?
Memory Verse – Proverbs 28:27 “27 whoever gives to the poor will have everything he needs”
Skit – Hal the hoarder – A guy who hoards what he has never gains friends and never blesses anyone because he is so worried about losing what is his instead of being a giver.
Skit – Mom and Son – there is a homeless looking man sitting on a bench a mom and a child walk by the mother hurries by trying to protect her son from the homeless man. The son stops and asks the mom if they can give money to the homeless man. The mom immediately says no. The boy then explains that in kids church he learned that God blesses those who give to the poor. The mom doesn’t really know what to say. She says what do you mean. The boy explains that the he learned in kids church that the Bible promises us that the more we give to the poor and to those in need the more God will bless you in every way. I want to give that man some money mom but Pastor Sam says that I have to ask your permission first and whatever you say we should do we will do. The mom thinks for a while and decides that they will go over and give the homeless man some money. They do and they share God’s love with the man. He is very grateful. The boy is very excited that God can use them. The mom says to the boy thank you for obeying God. I think that I learned something very important today. They walk off talking about how they can’t wait for the next opportunity to give to someone in need.
Object Lesson – Does God need our money? No, but he wants our hearts? The bible teaches our hearts and our money are connected. Bring a 20$ bill on the stage with you and ask the kids if you gave them the 20$ what would they spend it on? Boys prob video games Girls perhaps American Girl something or Barbie. We spend money on what we find valuable. When we give our money to God it says two things, 1. That he is infinitely more valuable than anything we can own. 2. That we trust God to take care of us better than we can take care of our selves, better than our parents can take care of us.
Object Lesson – Hold money in your hand very tightly show how hard it is to take out and then show equally how hard it is to put money into the hand.
Bible Story – Widows mite – it is not how much you give but how you give. What moved Christ heart was they widow gave all she had. In the same way God gave us his best in Christ. Our giving should be the extravagant response of a thankful heart. Realizing all that God has done for us in Jesus, makes us grateful and gratefulness results in generosity. Mark 12:42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
Puppet – Puppet confused because he gave a quarter to a poor person and he still doesn’t have 2 game boy advances. The MC explains that having 2 game boy advances is not necessarily something he need to survive. The puppet disagrees. The MC explains that God promises us that he will provide all our needs, but one thing we can’t do when give to people who need it. Is give with a wrong heart attitude, giving only to get.
Meet Pastor Monica Bullock. She’s a children’s pastor who loves kids crusades and themed lessons. Each week, she and a team of fearless volunteers jump and down with kids just to tell them, “Jesus loves you!”
Object Lesson: The Fruit of Love
Kids understand love but it doesn’t hurt to show them what God says about this important virtue. With this object lesson, your children will see the difference between regular love and love as a fruit of the spirit.
Zechariah– Book of Angels
Are Angels real?
Key Point – Angels are real.
Memory Verse – Psalms 34:7 “The angel of the Lord camps around those who fear God, and he saves them.” (NCV)
Skit – Have a few people come out and say that they love angels thinks they should worship angels they love them come out dressed like one MC explains we are not to worship them. The MC tells the group that angels are servants of God that help us and do certain things as messengers or representatives of God. There is nothing wrong with thinking angels are cool. But we are never to worship angels. Col. 2:17 tells we are not to worship angels. We are to worship God alone.
Object lesson – Mega phone – God’s messengers – Gabriel – Explain how Gabriel was one of Arc Angels in Heaven. He is one of the Top Angels in heaven he can be seen throughout the Bible proclaiming things telling people the Good News of Jesus Birth, warning and protecting people from harm.
Object lesson – Large sword – God’s protectors – Michael – Explain how Gabriel was one of Arc Angels in Heaven. He is one of the Top Angels in heaven he can be seen throughout the Bible Protecting people and executing judgment. Michael is the angel that protected many people in the Bible. He was the angel that fought against the devil to make sure that Daniel’s prayers were answered.
Puppet – Comes up with sling on his arm – Man’s Helpers – explains how an angel protected them in a car accident. A puppet come up explains how he was in a car accident and how he saw and angel keep them from falling off a cliff. It was so scary he should have been hurt worse the only thing that happened was that he got a slight sprained arm. The doctors in the hospital said that it must be a miracle. The puppet said that it was he told the doctor the story and lead the doctor to Christ.
Bible Story – Matthew 2:13 – Tell the story about how the God used an angel to Joseph to go to Egypt along with Mary and baby Jesus to escape the anger of King Herod. God used an angel to protect his only begotten Son. In the same way He sends angels and His Holy Spirit to protect us to help us.
