Thank you for writing this. I, too, moved every 3-6 years growing up, and have stayed in the same place of ministry for almost two decades. It’s been good, but hard. I’ve wanted to leave often. I fight to feel the benefits of staying in a place that hasn’t felt easy. The grass seems greener elsewhere. It’s not. God’s grace is what I need no matter where I am. Thanks for reminding me. Thanks also for “Death by 1000 Cuts.” It was the perfect thing to read as I considered my 22nd year in church ministry today. “Death by 1000 Cuts” could sum up the last two years sufficiently, and not just the last two years, either. I need the grace of God as much as anyone else and I know it.

K.T. Thanks for your comment. Prayed for you today. The sorrows in ministry remind us we are not in control and never were. But like one of my favorite Pastor/theologians says “Endurance in the midst of trials declares that the gospel is true and that Jesus is worth it!”
