Object Lesson –Battery gives power – The Holy spirit in us gives us the power. Show a flashlight without batteries and ask the kids what the purpose of the flashlight is (allow for responses). That is right to shine in the dark. This flashlight has a problem though it doesn’t have any power. It needs what? That’s right batteries. We are much like this flashlight without God’s power the power of the Holy Spirit we can not accomplish all that God has for us we need the power of the Holy Spirit.

Skit – Boy pretends to be a superhero – he wants to be powerful he finally realizes that all power comes from God. His parents come in and explain that superman never really lived there is no spider-man. The father does explain to his son that a lot of people in the Bible that did amazing things.

Skit – Act out the Bible story of Sampson, have the kids come up and act out the story of Sampson. Explain afterwards to the kids that without God’s power he was like any other man but with God’s power he did many amazing things.
Judg. 15:9 ¶ The Philistines went up and camped in Judah, spreading out near Lehi.
Judg. 15:10 The men of Judah asked, “Why have you come to fight us?” ¶ “We have come to take Samson prisoner,” they answered, “to do to him as he did to us.”
Judg. 15:11 ¶ Then three thousand men from Judah went down to the cave in the rock of Etam and said to Samson, “Don’t you realize that the Philistines are rulers over us? What have you done to us?” ¶ He answered, “I merely did to them what they did to me.”
Judg. 15:12 ¶ They said to him, “We’ve come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines.” ¶ Samson said, “Swear to me that you won’t kill me yourselves.”
Judg. 15:13 ¶ “Agreed,” they answered. “We will only tie you up and hand you over to them. We will not kill you.” So they bound him with two new ropes and led him up from the rock.
Judg. 15:14 As he approached Lehi, the Philistines came toward him shouting. The Spirit of the LORD came upon him in power. The ropes on his arms became like charred flax, and the bindings dropped from his hands.
Judg. 15:15 Finding a fresh jawbone of a donkey, he grabbed it and struck down a thousand men.
Judg. 15:16 ¶ Then Samson said, “With a donkey’s jawbone I have made donkeys of them. With a donkey’s jawbone I have killed a thousand men.”
Judg. 15:17 When he finished speaking, he threw away the jawbone; and the place was called Ramath Lehi.

Object Lesson – Balloon pushing a heavy book when it reveals power – the breath in the balloon is the Holy Spirit’s power in us. – Place an un inflated balloon and put it under a book and explain that when God power is in us we can do mighty things. Show the kids the balloon with out air in it. It has no power to lift the book but when you breath in it the book is lifted.

Puppet – I want to be a baseball player who hits more home runs than anyone else. MC explains that it is good to have goals but God gives us the power to do supernatural things the Bible even tells us that with out God we could do nothing.
