Book of the King.
Key Point – Jesus is our King we are his servants
Memory Verse – 1 Corinthians 4:1 “People should think of us as servants of Christ, the ones God has trusted with his secret.”
Intro:
Bible Story/Children’s Sermon – Read story of people coming to worship baby Jesus as king, Angels, Wise men and shepherds.
Mat. 2 and Luke 2
When we see Jesus as King – We see Him as valuable. Jesus desires to be the King of our hearts first place in our minds and affections. If this is true then:
- We will be fear and honor Jesus
- We will serve Jesus by helping others
- We will always worship only him
Object Lesson – Crown – How would you treat a King. Or how would they react if someone very important came to our church like the president. Ask the kids if they would be respectful. Then ask if they would demand that the King do things for you or would you try to do what you can for the king.
Skit – Retell the bible story this time have the a few kids act out the manger scene. (Matthew 2 – preferably in the NLT) Kids love to dress up and act out the birth our king.
Skit – Why do you serve? – someone comes up to the MC and explains that he is going to serve so that someday someone will serve him. Who we serve and why makes all the difference. We need to be like Christ. Philippians 2 – He came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Object Lesson – Towel – Who is the greatest – The Bible tells us that the greatest person is the servant of all. Who is greater a rich doctor who cares only for himself or a compassionate janitor who cares and serves others. Our greatness is measured by how much we reflect his likeness.
Puppet – Puppet comes up and explains that the only king he serves is Burger King. The MC explains that we must worship Jesus because he is not only our King but our creator.
