Free Bible Lessons – Exodus "Jesus My Redeemer"

(Jesus my Redeemer)

Key Point: Jesus Saved ME!
Memory Verse: Exodus 15:13 “The people you rescued were led by your powerful love to you holy place.”

Lesson Summery – Today Kids what we are going to talk about the Book of Exodus. In the book of Exodus we see Jesus as our redeemer. I know that is a big word, can anyone tell me what it means (allow for responses). That’s right Jesus saved me. We are going to talk about how Jesus saved us from a life of wandering not knowing where we are going not knowing what we are doing. Jesus gave us a reason to live. We don’t have to wonder like the Children of Israel did in the wilderness. We don’t have to wonder through our lives not knowing what we are here for. Jesus loves us very much and wants us to obey him. The Lord saved the children of Israel. They were slaves forced to work in another country called Egypt. God saved them and took them out of that situation. Just like many of us how many have you have asked Jesus to come into our lives? (allow for responses.) Just like the people of Israel were a slave to Egypt the bible says with out Jesus we are slaves to sin.

You saved my life – (A skit about how grateful people are when their lives are spared from death)

(Have the sound of large truck going by blowing the horn and then the scream of a little girl.)
Candy – (out of breath)  Wooho! That was a close call!
Pastor – Candy what’s wrong you seem flustered. Are you alright.
Candy – Yea, I am now.
Pastor – What happened?
Candy – Well I was walking home from school pastor, and I started counting all the clouds in the sky and I accidentally walked into the street. I surly would have been hit by a car if my good friend James didn’t jump out and pull me out of the way.
Pastor – Wow, that was very brave of James.
C – I know I owe him my life and I told him I said “ James I will follow you around were ever you go and do everything for you even take out the trash because you saved my life.”
P – Really you told him that.
C – Yea, I said that I would not stop following him or doing things for him untill I had a chance to save his life as well. Oh pastor he was so brave he didn’t  even think about his own life. What a brave, brave boy.
P – Well you know Candy that it is important that you thank him for his bravery and selflessness, but there is someone who saved you from something much more scary something much more dangerous than a truck.
C – Who did that, and what can be more scary than a big truck?
P – That person was Jesus Christ and he saved you from sin.
C – Really he did that for me.
P – Yes, He really did. It is important that you are thankful to James for what he did for you. But you need to know  that  Christ did on the cross is much greater because you were spared from a lifetime of death.
C – Really
P – Yes really, remember how you wanted to thank James and to serve him and wait for an opportunity to save his life. We need to be greatful to the Lord in the same way for what he has done for us. We need to serve him out of a thankful heart and look for ways to lay down our lives for him because he gave his life for us.
C – Wow! I never realized that before thanks Pastor. I am going to look all day for ways I can serve Jesus more.

Teaching –  In that Last Skit kids, what did Candy learn? (Allow for responses) That right she learned what Jesus Christ had done for her. We are learning this week about the book of Exodus and how Christ is our redeemer which means he saved us. In Exodus we see how God Delivered the children of Israel from the Egyptians. The people of Israel were slaves to the Egyptians they were forced to do hard labor and were only given food and water. They wanted to be free so God prepared a man to set them free to take them out of Egypt and their slavery to a land of peace called the promised land. I was very hard for Moses because the Pharaoh the King of Egypt didn’t want to let the children of Israel go. So Moses prayed and God told him that he would be with him so Moses went to Pharaoh and performed many miracles so that Pharaoh would know that Moses’ God is the one true God. God brought many plagues to the land of Egypt so that  all of Egypt would know that God is a God who desires to deliver his people. Finally after all the plagues Pharaoh decides to let the children of Israel go. God delivered them out of Egypt because he loved them. God used Moses to deliver his people. And do you want to know what kids? The same God  that  delivered the people of Israel can deliver you today. No matter what may be holding you captive like the evil king pharaoh was doing, it doesn’t matter because God is able to do what we can not do. He will always deliver you if you call on his name and ask him to. All we need to say is Jesus save me and he will. Today if you don’t know Jesus think about all the things in your life that are hard things that you know you can not do on your own. If you call on Him and ask Him to come into your life He will save you He will deliver you from a life of hardship like the children of Israel in Egypt. So be thinking about that today during our lesson.
Interview a fireman – (have a person dressed up in a fireman suit or T-shirt and hat come in)

Interviewer – Hello how are you?
Fireman – Good how are you?
Interviewer – So what do you do for a living?
F – I am a fireman I make a living saving people from fires.
I – You are paid to risk your own life to save the lives of others?
F- Exactly.
I – Doesn’t that seem scary to risk your life for people you don’t even know?
F – Not really because it is my job to save lives. My mission as a firefighter is not even to worry about my own life but to be consumed with saving the lives of others.
I – You know what Mr. Firefighter your job sounds much like the job of one of my very best friends.
F – Oh yea, what does this friend of yours do?
I – He is sort of well…. You know…. He is the Son of God.
F – Really how is the son of God is a firefighter.
I – He isn’t a firefighter but he is in the business of saving lives. He much like you come to earth his only mission was to save our lives from the fires of hell. He didn’t even think about trying to save his life but willingly died for us so that we can live for him. Jesus saved you and me so that we don’t have to live an eternity without Him.
F – So I guess you can say that Jesus was sort of a devine firefighter he came to save us from the fire of hell.
I – Exactly
F- So even though I do good things and save lives I still need Jesus to save me?
I – Yes you do, Mr. Firefighter because the bible says that our righteousness are like filthy rags
F – Which by the way can cause fires.
I – Yes that’s true but Mr. Firefighter you need Jesus. You can’t save enough people from fires to earn you way into heaven. Heaven is a free gift offered to all. All you need to do is say Jesus I need you to come into my life and be my personal Lord and savior.
F – I think that I want to do that.
I  – All you need to do is repeat after me. (Have Fireman repeat the following prayer after the Interviewer)  “Dear Jesus I ask that you would come into my life and forgive me of all my sins, I give my life to you and ask that you would save me. In Jesus’ name Amen.
F – Wow! What a difference Jesus makes. Thanks but I had better get going.

Sin chair Skit
Objects Needed –
1 – Chair
1 – Sign with the word sin on it.

Cast needed –
1 – Worldly person plays with the sin and gets stuck
1 – One Pharisee Christian – thinks that he is to good to sin
1 – True Christian – helps them out

Procedure –

Worldly Man – (Comes out walks around sees the chair is tempted to touch it and eventually does and gets stuck to it begans to scream for help) Help me I’m stuck! (Stuggles for quite a while trying to free himself using his feet for leverage to try and free his hand. Doing things like hopping around with the chair becoming more and more desprate to be free hears someone coming and quickly covers up he fact that he is stuck so as not to look foolish)
Pharisee – (Walks by looking smug) Hello there fine sir how are you today?
Worldly Man – (nervously) I’m ….uh, uh, o.k. why?
Pharisee – Just wandering because I am doing very well because I am so holy.
Worldly Man  – Well I must be honest with you I am a bit stuck here do you think that you could help me out since you are a Holy man.
Pharisee – Let me think about it. I wouldn’t have a problem getting stuck because I don’t sin, but I am not sure if I want to touch the likes of you.
Worldly Man – Please I am desprate.
P – Oh alright but I want you to know that the only reason that I am doing this is so that I can tell everyone how Holy I am. (reaches out to help him and gets stuck)
WM – Great now we are both stuck I thought that you were suppose to be this great holy man.
(Now both the worldly man and the Pharisee try together to free them selves through a variety of creative ways using each other to try and make it easier to become free. Finally despation sets in and they realize that they need someone else to come set them free.)
True Christian – (walks by and notices that there are a couple of people stuck on a chair.) Hey guys what’s going on.
WM – (upset) Nothing!
Pharisee – (Prideful) Exactly nothing we are fine.
True Christian – Actually you do look like you need a little bit of help there.
WM – Your are right we do
P – Speak for yourself
WM – Come on we need someone to help us.
P – Oh alright.
TC – Actually I can’t help you but I know someone who can.
WM – Whoever it is I  don’t care we need help.
TC – This person is my best friend Jesus Christ. It says right here in the bible (pull out a pocket bible) That all have sinned and fallen short of the God’s glory even you Pharisee. All that you need to do to break from that sin in you life is to ask God to take it away and he will. Just tell him that you need him and that you are sorry for all the things that you have done.
WM – Really
P – All these years I have trying so hard by doing good works to get to heaven if I would have only know it is that easy.
TC – Lets pray (True Christian leads them into a prayer and they say amen and are free from the chair they both give True Christian a big hug and they all walk off together rejoicing.)

Teaching – In that last skit kids we saw how sin wants to attach it’s self to you to destroy you so that you lose your love for Jesus and your love for other people.
In the bible it says that to whom is forgiven much loves much. We have a reason to love much because why? JESUS SAVED ME! That is true and we have a special guest here tonight Listen very closely to the story about my good friend Hanky Chief.

Hanky Chief – Object Lesson
Materials needed-
2 – large Jars big enough to fit you hand in
1 – White cotton handkerchief
1 – Heavy duty spray starch
1 – bottle iodine (red) put a skull and crossbones on the bottle
1 – Sodium Sulfite (Photograde) – you can find this chemical at any place they develop film.

Preparation –
Mark one of the jar lids (sin & works)
Mark the other Jar lid (Forgiveness – Jesus)
Prior to presentation 1hour. Spray entire open handkerchief with starch, both sides, heavy application. Then allow handkerchief to hang and air dry.
Following the handkerchief drying. Fold it into halves 3x.
A few minutes before presentation  – fill both jars ½ full of warm water. (Important the water must be very warm for the chemical to work.)
Place 4 heaping tablespoons of sodium sulfite into the jar marked  (forgiveness – Jesus)
Spray starch approx. 3 seconds into jar marked (Sin – Works).
Place both jars a few feet apart on the table with the chemicals out ready to go.

The Presentation –

Hello boys and Girls I am going to tell you a story about a very close friend of mine. His name is Hanky Chief.
Hanky lived his life much like you and me. He loved going to school just like all of you. He loved  playing and running up and down his streets carefree. He loved many of the same things you and I like the only difference is that Hanky had never heard about Jesus.
He had no way of knowing that there was someone who would take away all of his sins who would for give him of everything. (Take out the bottle of red Iodine)
Do you see this bottle it has a symbol of death on it (pointing to the skull and crossbones) If we drink this we will die. It says in the bible that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life. Does that mean when we sin that we fall dead? If that were true none of us would be here right now. What that means is that when we do die we will be separated forever from Jesus. What are some of the things that we do that separate us from God? (Allow for responces) (As the kids offer suggestions take the handkerchief over the iodine bottle and turn upside down top allow iodine to soak through several layers of the handkerchief. Do this five time once in each corner of the handkerchief and once in the middle.)
Even though Hanky has sinned do you want to know how God sees Hanky? (open up the handkerchief and show the kids that it is clean) But Hanky still needs to ask for forgiveness to remove the stain of sin in his life. So Hanky was feeling really bad so he asked one of his friend Bandana how he could get rid of this sin. Bandana said it’s easy just do good things for people, you get rid of your sin by doing good works. So Hanky decided to help an old lady across the street, mow his neighbor’s lawn, was very nice and polite to everyone he met. (As you say a good deed begin dunking the handkerchief in the jar marked sin & works) All these things are good things but they do not remove sin from our lives.
In fact look at Hanky now he is an even bigger mess he looks like a filthy rag. Hey you know what it says in the Bible that our best works are like filthy rags just like Hanky. Well Hanky went back to school the next day a little discouraged because he felt worse than he did before. Until he ran into his other friend Washed cloth who was a Christian and attended ROCK Church (The name of your children’s church.) Washed Cloth told Hanky that he needs to come to ROCK Church with him. Hanky was desperate he would do anything to remove this stain of sin from his life.  Hanky went and he heard from the pastor that the only person who can take away our sins is Jesus Christ. He come to earth to die for our sin stained lives by living a perfect life. He died on the cross for us and rose from the grave in three days and now sits at the right hand of God up in heaven. To be forgiven of you sins you only need to ask Jesus to forgive you and to come into your life and have full control of every area of your life. He will forgive every sin you have ever committed and ever will commit. Hanky was so excited about how great this felt and how easy it was that he went and told everyone he knew what Jesus has done for him. (begin dunking the handkerchief into the jar marked sin & works the reddish water – the water becomes clear) When our lives our touched by Jesus we want to run out and tell everyone what he has done for us. So Hanky and all his family were saved that day. Jesus took all their sins and made them white as snow.

Conclusion –
Do you know what kids Jesus can do for you just what he did for Hanky he can do for you. Jesus died on the cross for all the sins that you have ever committed and will ever commit. Today we learned that Jesus Saved Me! We learned that if we were the only person on earth Christ would have still died on the cross for us.  We learned that Jesus came to save us like a fireman rescues people from the fire. Jesus is our redeemer because he died for us we will live for him. Before we go I want to give every boy and girl in this room an opportunity to do what we have heard. We want to make sure that no one goes home not have the opportunity that Hanky Chief had to ask Jesus to take away the stain of sin in his life. So if you don’t know Jesus raise you hands. Now everyone who raised their hands come forward because the bible says that if we are embarrassed about Jesus here on earth that when we get to heaven he will be embarrassed of us before his father. So come forward and we will have one of our workers pray with you. much
