Hide and Seek

I have been having this crazy God thought for a while now, let me explain.

My middle son is 2 and for the past few weeks every time I change his shirt in the middle of the process he wants me to stop. Because when his shirt is covering his eyes and he can’t see anything he thinks he suddenly becomes invisible. We pretend like we can’t see him he stays totally still because of this amazing power he possesses.

Every time this happens I always have this same crazy God thought
about how we do the same thing with God how so often we think He doesn’t see us because we don’t see him. We prefer this altered reality even in the context of church because if we don’t see God we can imagine him to be whatever we want Him to be. The crazy part is that for some reason he always ends up looking like us.

What are the things in your walk that are blinding you to the present reality of who God is?

Deuteronomy 4:28-30
28 There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell. 29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30 When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the LORD your God and obey him.
