In the minds of many people church and branding are words that should never be connected. I am not one of those people. I realized long ago that every church brands them self weather you want to admit it or not. You are the “weird church” “new church” “old people’s church” “church with the long services” you church has a label weather you like it or not.
Where I think church branding matters is when you recognize that your church will have a label intentionally or unintentionally and you decide to be proactive and ask yourself some hard questions. What kind of church do we want to be? What label do we want applied? What direction do we feel God calling us to expend the passion and vision he has given us. I think about our kids church brand alot. I want our name to be connected with good feelings, great moments and life change.
Today we are meeting with some good folks at Plain Joe Studios. They are a great company that helps churches and companies alike work on branding themselves. We are about a third of the way through the process and it has been fun so far. Looking forward to meeting today and tomorrow to come up with some stratagies to get our story out there to reach more people for Him.
Love it.
